Sometimes life strips away the familiar — relationships change, careers end, identities fall away, and the places where we once belonged no longer feel like home.
What can look from the outside like a breakdown may, internally, be the beginning of a profound breakthrough.
Nubian Royals Sanctuary was created for this threshold.
On Heisa Island in Nubia, surrounded by the Nile and close to the ancient Temple of Auset/Isis, this sacred women’s retreat in Aswan, Kemet (Egypt) offers space for people who have been walking their path alone to return to themselves — and ultimately, to find one another.
The journey moves through four stages:
Through Nile rebirth ceremonies, ancestral healing work, the Aritu (the Kemetic energy centres, known elsewhere as chakras) and energy activations, sacred ritual, meditation, temple experiences and connection with the land and water, guests are invited to move beyond the identities imposed upon them and reconnect with something deeper.
This is not about escaping the world.
It is about remembering who you are before returning to it.
Finding Your Tribe: Community for the African Diaspora
Many people undergoing profound personal or spiritual transformation describe the feeling that they no longer belong to their old world, yet have not discovered where they belong next.
The Sanctuary creates a meeting place for those people.
When individuals who have travelled alone begin recognising their experiences, questions and truths within one another, isolation can transform into community.
Kindred spirits recognise kindred spirits.
This is one of the deeper purposes of Nubian Royals Sanctuary: to create a physical home where Black women and people from across the African diaspora can gather on sacred Nubian land, reconnect with ancestry, encounter Kemetic wisdom and build genuine human connection.
The Return
At the heart of the Sanctuary is a simple principle:
Know thyself.
The work begins internally.
It moves through the body, the ancestors, the elements, the Nile and the land.
And eventually, it moves outward into community.
We do not simply bring people to Nubia.
We create the conditions for remembrance.
And sometimes, after walking alone for years, remembrance includes discovering that you were never meant to complete the journey alone.
